  • 15 ounces fava beans/broad beans, frozen
  • 1 cup cilantro, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, pressed (large cloves or use 8)
  • 5 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add 4 tablespoons olive oil and garlic and saute 1-2 min.

  2. Add fava beans and salt. Stirring occasionally, cook about 5 min if using skinless beans. If using frozen beans with skin, cook for about 20-30 or until tender. You may also add about 1/4 cup of water to help cook through if you find the beans are becoming tender on their own.

  3. Add cilantro and saute for about 2 min, until it wilts and cooks down, but does not turn dark.

  4. Top with one tablespoon and olive oil and serve.

Recipe Notes

If you can't find frozen beans, you can use dried beans as well. Just soak and prepare them for sauteing and follow the same instructions.
