Mothers Day Brunch Blue & Peach inspiration is what you need to celebrate your mothers in style this year!
Mothers Day is something I feel very passionate about and if you know me (Nadia) then you already knew that. I feel so many mothers are under appreciated and not valued and it genuinely hurts my heart because its not physically or emotionally easy to be a mother. So I urge everyone to celebrate and appreciate not just their own mothers, but their mother friends, mother neighbors, coworkers and even strangers. Honestly, it’s becoming more and more challenging to be a mother these days for so many reasons so I think an extra shoutout and appreciation for mothers goes a long way. You can see what we did for last years mothers day brunch here .
If you follow me personally then you know that I’m currently 9 months pregnant and this comes after a long time of trying and a couple of miscarriages. This mothers day is extra special. I only mention this because I really really hope that if anyone is reading this that is trying to be a mother and has been unsuccessful to not give up hope. Honestly, I truly believe everything happens for a reason and when it is time it will happen. I always assumed my kids would be so close in age and it didn’t happen that way but that’s okay.
I feel really blessed that I was able to have such valuable one on one time with my daughter that I otherwise don’t think I would’ve been able to have if I got pregnant again right away. We have such an amazing bond as a result and I value that. If you really look deep at your life you will find that maybe it’s a blessing in disguise as to why it’s not happening so quickly. Just take it easy, try not to stress and things will fall into place.
While both of our moms live on the East Coast (working on getting them both to relocate out to California!) we’re lucky that they are both visiting at the same time this year and will celebrate Mother’s Day with us. A lovely little brunch with great food is a nice and simple way to appreciate your Mothers or mother friends.
The Amazing spread!
Our menu looked super fancy but it was relatively simple to put together. We used cookie cutters in the shape of flowers to make an egg and place it on top of a Zaatar Avocado Toast. We, more like perfectionist Deana, sliced apples paper thin (it’s very important that they are paper thin or else they will crack when rolling!) and rolled them into beautiful roses to make an Apple Rose tart. Pomegranate Chia Seed Pudding, Beet and Goat Cheese Tea Sandwiches along with Lebne and Cucumber Sandwiches were part of the menu as well. What is a brunch without watermelon and cheese (who knows what I’m talking about??). Our style is to take the salty Syrian cheese and eat it with watermelon and pita bread; one bite pita bread and cheese and second bite watermelon. So we served them on skewers with mint and they were refreshing and delicious!
We also served arabic/turkish coffee along with sparkling rose lemonade cider. Flowers are very important in making the entire ambiance look happy and festive. I always like to make things personal by adding name tags which I will proudly say I actually hand wrote myself! And now I want to take a calligraphy class because I loved it so much.
A fun, herby twist on traditional avocado toast!
- 3-4 Avocados (depending on the size of the avocado, a half of a small one with be good for 1 toast)
- 1/4 Red Onion minced
- 1-2 Lemons juiced (alter this depending on how tangy you like it)
- Olive Oil (to drizzle)
- 1-2 tbsp Zaatar (use more or less depending on how much herby flavor you like)
- 4 Eggs
- 4 slices Whole grain toast
- Salt & pepper to taste
Begin by peeling your avocados and placing them in a medium sized bowl and mash with a fork until you get a creamy but chunky consistency
Mince your red onion and add to the avocado
Add lemon juice and salt and pepper to taste.
You can toast your bread or leave it un-toasted. Then spread your avocado mixture on each slice, drizzle olive oil and sprinkle generously with Zaatar.
Spray a medium sized frying pan with cooking spray, lay a cookie cutter on the pan (also spray that with cooking spray) and crack your eggs, one in each cutter, and wait about 5 min or so or until it cooks through where the white is done, but the yolk is soft.
Finally, take a spatula and scoop up the cookie cutter. Release the egg onto the spatula and slide on to your toast. Viola!
We hope our Mothers Day brunch inspires you to celebrate your mother, your mother friend or yourself! As always, happy mothers day, your hard work supporting and loving your children and family are very much appreciated.
